VK3AWS Club Net

Weekly Club Radio Net

Tuesday Evenings - 7:30pm to 8:30pm AEST

The VK3AWS club net is an informal meeting place for club and non-club members to gather and "have a chat" on-the-air.

In the past years, the net has expanded from its simple origins on 146.450 MHz (2 meter amateur band). The net now broadcasts on the above frequency and during some NET's (dependant on availability) also relayed through the Echolink internet linking system to the following stations:

Area Relay Station Frequency
Laverton VK3RTL 438.600 MHz (-ve)
Hillside VK3RFY 438.400/147.425 MHz

Therefore, any amateur station in those areas can access the club net on the above frequencies or through the Echolink internet linking system.  This only happens when Chris, VK3FY, is at his home location to set up and patch in the Echolink system.

Control of the net is handled by the operator of the VK3AWS call sign.

Net control originates on the club frequency 146.450 MHz

All amateurs are logged and each are called "down the list" for their turn. Opportunities exist for new stations to log on during the net.

What else happens?

28.470 MHz USB

Whilst the above frequencies are used for the net, an informal gathering sometimes also takes place on 28.470 MHz (10 meter amateur band) during the net. This is not controlled by VK3AWS and is used for "chit-chat" and comments between overs on the net frequency.

1855 KHz AM

Some members and readers of this website will be aware that in recent months Dallas, VK3EB, has been regularly re-transmitting the 2 metre FM WANSARC Club Net on 1843kHz (or) 1850kHz on AM (Amplitude Modulation). Due to a ZL Net becoming active on 1850kHz SSB recently, and not wishing to interfere with their activities Dallas has moved a little higher in frequency. In future, please listen on 1855kHz AM, but if there is any change of frequency on the night due to QRM, advice will be given at the beginning of, and throughout the Net's operation.
